Please click here to visit my photography blog, which contains my “extraordinary in the ordinary” project. I fulfilled my goal of taking a picture every day in 2011, with each photograph focused on depicting the interesting and unique aspects of daily life.

The main inspiration for the blog came from the realization that it’s easy for us to get caught up in our lives and not really look at the world around us. We get so rushed and in a hurry that many of us live getting from Point A to Point B, but don’t fully exist in that part in-between. By taking pictures every day, it makes you examine your surroundings and take notice of those things and places you may have never seen before. But, they may have been there all along.

As a result of the project, my camera has become my favorite traveling companion and it goes with me everywhere, because I don’t want to miss anything. While I worked on the blog I lived in Richmond, Virginia but commuted one hour each way to rural Louisa County for work, so it felt like the best of both worlds:  I experienced the city and the country all in one day. This project made me open my eyes and notice that random barn on the way into work, or that beautiful sunset on the way home. Just look around. You will be surprised by what you find, which might have been right in front of you this whole time…
