Jaclyn O’Laughlin earned her master’s degree in multimedia journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has a passion for writing and photography, and has used those skills at a variety of newspapers and publications in Virginia and Washington D.C.
She currently works as a multimedia manager for a national association in Washington D.C., and previously worked as a photojournalist and reporter for an international news organization covering stories that ranged in focus from foreign affairs to general U.S. news on topics such as energy, politics, breaking news and broad societal trends.
Jaclyn has also worked for weekly newspapers as both a reporter and photographer, covering numerous beats such as education, courts, spot news, crime, and sports.
In addition, she also shoots weddings and events with a photojournalistic approach-she enjoys capturing “the moment” of every occasion. She also loves to do travel photography, which has taken her to places such as Bolivia, Peru, Costa Rica, Ireland, Hawaii and many of the national parks in the United States.
She has been honored with Virginia Press Association Awards for her education writing, for a series of articles she wrote about the Hispanic population in a rural Virginia county, and spot news writing.
